New and unused work clothing not complying with the new safety regulations in Finland was donated to the Red Cross and then on to aid targets in disaster areas.
The donated work clothing no longer complies with occupational safety decrees. For instance, they had too few high-visibility colours, so they could no longer be used at worksites and during installation work. However, the lack of high-visibility colours does not prevent their use for different purposes as the clothing is of high quality and includes unused coats, trousers and overalls.
According to the Red Cross, the work clothing donation is very welcome as men’s clothing is not often donated. Caverion and YIT are donating two containers full of clothing, with a total value of approximately EUR 150,000.
Together with YIT, we wanted to donate the unused clothes to somewhere where they will really be useful. Caverion and YIT donated the clothes together as the clothing for the employees of YIT Kiinteistötekniikka had been purchased before Caverion’s demerger from YIT.
The work clothing donated by Caverion and YIT was received at the Red Cross logistics centre in Tampere.
