 For the taxpayers in Söderhamn, the project is a means of improving the standard of the municipality's properties, reducing energy use and, at the same time, creating local jobs, without any financial risks

Customer needs

  • 430,000 m2 is covered and the municipality's environmental impact is estimated to be reduced by approximately 600,000 kg of CO2, which corresponds to approximately 190,000 liters of petrol - every year
  • This will reduce the municipality's energy consumption by 23% by 2019.

Solutions

  • The majority of the belonging to the municipality and the housing company were
    modernised. Detailed project management and close co-operation with the client ensured the success of the project. Some examples of the work:  
    • Moving away from the use of oil 
    • Installing geothermal heating systems and air source heat pumps 
    • Fitting ventilation systems with heat recovery units
 

The Swedish town of Söderhamn started an energy project with Caverion in 2015, modernising and improving the energy efficiency of most of the public buildings. This self-financing project reduced the municipality’s energy consumption by 23 per cent by 2019.
