The complex project had to be carried out while the hospital remained in operation and this represented a major challenge for the Caverion team.
“The ventilation system in the operating theatres was converted during night shifts in a number of Sunday nights in order not to interfere with the hospital’s operations. If an emergency occurred that required the fans to be started in the middle of night, we guaranteed that they would be working within 15 minutes,” explains Olof Olofsson, the installation manager at Caverion Visby.
Caverion took responsibility for the entire project from designing the equipment cabinets through to installing the system for monitoring the fans.
All the fan systems were replaced with modern, demand-controlled,
A total of 13 fan systems were involved.
In some cases, the new systems consist of eight smaller fans rather than
two large ones.
