Caverion receives large order from Jena University Hospital in Germany

Caverion Deutschland has been entrusted with the building systems amounting to ca. 30 million EUR for the second construction phase of the Jena university hospital in eastern Germany. This includes the planning and implementation of all technical divisions, with the electrical engineering being carried out together with a consortium partner. Work starts in November and is scheduled to be completed in May 2016.

Caverion will be installing ventilation systems with a total throughput of about 1 million m³/h into the buildings. Together with heating and air conditioning units they will ensure appropriate air and temperature conditions in patient rooms, OPs, laboratories, and more. A high-pressure water mist extinguishing system will be built into the building. In sensitive areas, there is a gas extinguishing system provided.

In the sanitary divisions Caverion is responsible among other things for the generation of sterile steam for sterilisation purposes. The order also includes the installation of measurement, control-, and regulation technology into the five- and six-story buildings.

One of the largest hospital projects in Germany is currently underway in Jena. With the new construction in the Lobeda district of the city, all the medical departments of Jena University Hospital will be merged into a single location. The result will be a building complex with 710 beds, 12 operating theatres, and three medical centres, including two research buildings with 15 clinics and institutes. There will be about 1,300 parking places for employees and visitors.

Caverion Deutschland has previously executed hospital projects for example at the University Hospitals of Würzburg and Dresden.
